No pictures, sorry Kelly ... you should read this anyway!

This is ridiculous. I am up, it's 2:30 in the morning and I'm turning into the Good Idea Fairy. I sold the vette today (random thought). Dad asked me to send him a list of what we want for Christmas. I don't want for much, but figured I would try to think of something. So, I returned to my band-nerd days and thought "wouldn't it be great to get a flute and play like I used to?" So, I looked on eBay, found a bunch of flutes, music stands, etc, etc. Then that thought took me to wanting to learn a new instrument like a banjo. A BANJO!? Who am I!? How on earth do I think I'm going to just pick up a banjo and learn how to play. And seriously - WHEN do I have time for that!? I'm SUCH a dork!

But, it gets better. So, I'm watching TiVo and I come across a saved Oprah show and decide to watch it. Heck, it was 1:30 and I didn't have anything ELSE to do (like sleep or something silly like that). So, this show was with Kirstie Alley talking about losing weight. Long story short, there were several women on there who were obese and turned their lives around and became fitness competitors. So, this is my new thing. From flutes to glutes. (dang, I should write jingles or something). Seriously - I'm laughing now! So, I'm checking out treadmills, a bowflex, free weights, etc. I mean, Storm is going to move out when he gets back from the Stan, so we have that huge bonus room. That would be a great thing to do with it, right? Well, let's look at the fact that I haven't worked out in 7 weeks (partially because of the surgery, but mostly because I'm busy). Let's also consider that I pay $30 a month to be a member of a gym I haven't even driven by in 5 months. For all I know, they could be closed and they're still taking my money. So, this all sounds good, in theory, but I wish something would just CLICK with me and get me moving. I was jalking before the surgery and had actually lost almost 20 pounds. So much for that. It came back quicker than it went away. Maybe when JD is here we will actually get out and walk together - gotta start somewhere. Wish me luck. Maybe I'm just so tired I'm delirious and tomorrow I'll look at my post and go "what!?" It's possible.

Okay, I was going to stop, but no....as you all know, keeping me quiet just isn't that easy.

So, I've been a size 6 before. As a matter of fact, it was only four years ago. Why can't I do it again? Maybe I need to enroll in a fitness competition for next year and that would give me a goal - something I would have to do. What'yall think? Now that I've published this on my "oh-so-popular" site, I might have people holding me to it! All two of you!

Having a goal generally helps. I know when Leah was trying to lose weight before Kevin got home, she didn't mind going to the gym. Plus she had me, mom, and Pearl to go with her. :-) My goal was Sara's wedding... You just need something to keep you going back, and someone to hold you responsible!

Oh yeah, also I've been wanting to learn a new instrument as well, I'm thinking the guitar. I think mom might be getting me one for Christmas!! But I need to decide if I want electric or acoustic... (But you're making me miss the flute, so I need to take that out of my closet and play it!)

I don't MIND going to the gym, I just don't have TIME! Like today - I have so much work to do and a lot of errands to run, I can still probably fit a workout in. But, generally, when I'm instructing my classes, I'm at the training center at 8am and don't get home until 10 or 11pm. Therefore, I'm BEAT, have 2-3 hours of prepwork left and there is NO way I'm working out. I guess I need to start working out my schedule to fit it in - just scheduling it. Thanks for the tips, Jess! You rock! Are you still doing Atillios?

I think it all sounds great, BUT...dearheart, leave the jingle writing to the professionals...AKA, ME! and Chea of course. ;o)

Jess - You're right - I already gave up the jingle writing - maybe tag lines is my thing! That's what I meant.

Kitsey - I am thinking hard about the fitness competition. I could track my progress on the site and then everyone can hold me responsible. Then, if I don't quite make it to the shape I need to be in, at least I've made it however far I am at the time!!!

I agree with Jess totally..having a goal is the key, even if it is just slimming down a size or two if you have a goal in mind it helps a lot. Maybe try buying some great outfit that doesn't quite fit yet and setting up a time frame for when to be able to fit into it. Also be realistic...try not to set a goal that just isn't reachable...because if you can't reach it for whatever reason it'll just depress you and we all know what depression leads to...more eating. As far as the exercise goes try exercising in the morning before you have to be at work. I am telling you it'll make you feel great for the rest of the day. I used to do it in high school and I had energy all day long just because I felt so good about myself. Hope these suggestions are helpful...but remember I say you look great now girl!

Hey Rachel - When I move to Fayetteville we will go running together and I will be your new motivator! HA! I am doing another race (this one is only 5 miles) at 8am on Thanksgiving morning. Training is really the best way that I keep in shape. Tracking my weight or my size has never done it for me, I have to have competition for me to really work at it!
By the way, did you know that I have played the flute all my life ?? I didn't know that you played it!?!?! That's so great! If they have any city symphonies there, I plan to audition soon when I arrive. Maybe when you get your flute, we can do a duet sometime ;)
Oh and by the way - sleep is a proven fat burner, so get some sleep you little insomniac!
