So, I had a bunch of coupons, right? I know....surprise, surprise. All the deals/prices were scouted out for Wal-Mart and I thought it would be best if I went when I didn't have the "helper." My friend Shannon and I went tonight at 10pm.
I would link to Shannon's blog, because she's super funny, but.....oh yeah, she doesn't have one.
Anyhow, I am always choosey with my cashier; I can just tell when the old crotchety ones are going to yell at me and say that I "can't use that many coupons."
I chose a young one. Poor girl. She didn't know what she was getting herself into. I didn't know her shift was over in 8 minute. Until she told me three times. Bless her heart, she endured it all. Her manager made her do separate transactions for each of our items. That might not sound like a lot, but as you'll see with the list below, it was quite the undertaking.
12 cans of Muir Glen tomatoes
5 (8pks) of Zantac
4 packs of Post-it notes
12 (4 lb) bags of Purina dog food
12 boxes of chocolate Honey Bunches of Oats
12 boxes of LiveActive cereal
12 boxes of Kashi cereal
May not sound like it was worth it, but I only spent $1.66.
For those of you who coupon, they didn't give me my overages, which is what ended up costing me. Otherwise, I wouldn't have paid a dime! Maybe your Wal-Mart will, though?
After it was all said and done, I offered to buy her chocolate for her troubles. She was pretty darned honest and said she couldn't accept it. We offered to just pay for it and "accidentally" leave it behind. No go. She was all about integrity and I respect that.
I can't say I would have turned it down, though. I mean, for crying out loud, it's chocolate!
I'd love to say that I scouted out all this goodness on my own, but I didn't. If you want the worker bee's secrets, go HERE.
Hopefully I'll have some videos and pictures of the Daughter up tomorrow for y'all.
But, for now I must go and be a good wifey and make my hubby's lunch for tomorrow. I think I'll be packing him some cereal, a can of tomatoes, and some zantac. Good menu, eh?
Oh....I totally forgot to tie in the blog title. After checker-outer-girl closed down her lane so she could focus on my transactions, she asked what we were going to do with all the stuff. I'm not sure why, but what popped out of my mouth was an out-right lie.
I said "donate it."
WHAT?
Seriously? Does that make it less weird than saying "I'm going to use it?" I'm not sure. I guess I'll be gathering up some of it to go to a shelter, that way I didn't really lie.
I've repented.

Can I just say you are my hero?
I keep saying that I want to be a better couponer (as in, use them), but I never get my act together. But seriously. A buck.66? For all that? You've got cereal for the next year!
You are awesome!
I'll try it... and hope I have better luck than I did on my last couponing excursion!
You crack me up. You are the best coupon clipper out there... even if you have someone else doing the work for you.
So how exactly does this work? Are you saying that if you get a cashier who knows better, technically we'll only get to use one coupon for one item, but if we get an inexperienced young one, it's possible we can purchase multiple items and use multiple coupons? How do you know what the limit is when it specifically says, Limit one per item?
Donate it?! Bwua ha ha ha ha ha! That just tickled me--I'm not sure why.
Y'all make me laugh. It's just a game and WAY fun for me. I get a high getting stuff for free like this.
Carissa, I can only use one coupon per item. I use every coupon as it describes it is to be used. Everything is on the up and up. When I say go to a young cashier, they usually don't READ the coupons. I don't care if they DO read the coupons, but when I have 30+, it takes FOREVER for them to read through each of them. I know what I am doing is legal and I'm not scamming anyone. However, going to a young one and making the trip 15-20 minutes versus going to an old one and having them read through them and taking me 1.5 hours, is the reason I pick the young one. Either way, I get the same amount of items, use the same amount of coupons, but take WAY less time!!
Dang. Are you human?! Wow. How did you get 12 boxes of Kashi? I live on the Wild Blueberry kashi.
This is pretty bad that I know this but....the title of your post...isn't that a line in the song "My Humps" by Black Eyed Peas?
Just asking...and if I am right, that is pretty hilarious!
