Stinky Feet

Sirloin Burgers with Gorgonzola Cheese
and Mediterranean Slaw

Sounds pretty good, right? Well, with my Rachael Ray 365 Days No Repeats cookbook, I thought for SURE this was a winner! I've been using this cookbook for some time now and everything I've tried has been terrific. I've even braved my food being mixed together because of this book. Yeah, I know - Rachel and mixed foot items? It's a miracle! Back to the recipe for the night....

Well, if the amount of garlic and onion in the slaw recipe doesn't keep the vampires away, I'm not sure what will. I might attempt it again in the future with a third the garlic and onion. It was pretty tasty if you could get past your watering eyes and flaming breath.

And the burgers - well, those were interesting. Ground sirloin with grated onions and fresh sage. Not too bad. Except it's then SOAKED in balsamic vinegar and topped with two ounces of Gorgonzola cheese. TWO OUNCES! That's as big as an extra large egg. I thought that Gorgonzola would be yummy. Well, I've never tasted stinky feet, but I imagine that Gorgonzola comes pretty close to replicating it. GROSS!!!

My sweet neighbor Marie, and her daughter Anna came over tonight. Marie and JD said they liked the burgers. I threw out the slaw before she got there, but I'm sure she could smell it as she walked through our yard from her house. I replaced the slaw with a yummy spinach salad and homemade dressing.

Oh yeah - and I forgot...I was broiling the buns and they burned. Like CRISPY burned. Is it "burned" or "burnt?" I don't know. All I know is that I was so in a tizzy because everything was going wrong.

The best part of the ENTIRE meal, aside from the very good raspberry lemonade crystal light, was the coconut cake that Marie brought over for us. YUMMY!! I will have to get that recipe and post it for everyone. It was great!

So, all-in-all, today was good. Dinner was not. I can still taste the garlic from six hours ago.

Here's Anna tonight, playing after dinner...

Important Side Note: Lorelai will be dedicated at our church tomorrow at noon. I will cry, I'm sure. I always do when they have baby dedications. It just always melts my heart to see how God gives us the privilege of caring for our children. We don't deserve such great gifts, but I'm so thankful we receive them!

Yes, dinner was really good! I think the best part was the company. Who are those 2 adorable babies? ;-)

I personally like gargonzola cheese, it's good in moderation and especially good a-top a jucy Filet Minon! YUM. Again RR def. does not use her cheeses in moderation. As far as the garlic goes, I know what ya mean sistah, BUT I L-O-V-E Garlic! I made a dip a few weeks back and I went a little overboard with the fresh pressed garlic, but the dip disapeared regardless...
