So, tomorrow is the day. For those of you who don't know yet, my Dad is having surgery in the morning. We have to leave at zero dark thirty to get checked in for his 7am procedure. He would KILL me if he knew I put this on the world wide web, but he'll be under the knife and then out of commission for a while, so by the time he figures it out, he'll have to be over it. He's a very don't-make-this-a-big-deal kind of a guy. So, I'll keep this short and sweet.
Dad recently found out that he has an aortic aneurysm. Basically, it's a bubble in his aorta that needs to be fixed before it ruptures. This surgery is the most common cardiac surgery performed at his hospital. He'll have four hours under, 5-10 days in the hospital and about six weeks of recovery. That's why I'm here. God has blessed our family with the position we're in. Even though we weren't really sure if we were fond of it to begin with. With JD getting deferred to the January class, we hesitated, but knew He had a plan. And, surprise surprise, He did. We're now able to be here for my Dad and even after JD goes back, Lorelai and I will be here for a few months.
So, if you think about it, say a little prayer for my Dad and the surgeon who will be working on him. I pray for Dad's peace with the surgery and recovery and I pray that the surgeon got a good night's sleep. :-) (Roger!) Also say a prayer for me - that the vending machine isn't too close by. I'm serious.
So, I'll post an update as soon as possible. If you've sent an email recently and I haven't gotten back to you, this is my formal apology.
Love, ME
