Mr. Belvedere is his name, direction is his game.

Remember last week when I was talking about the great deal on the Garmin GPS system that Melody found for me? Well, I ordered it. And received it the very next day. Talk about super fast shipping! I didn't even PAY for shipping. Got it free and it was supposed to arrive within 5-7 business days. I guess there is one good thing about living in Texas - you have an Amazon distrobution center in Irving.

So, back to the device. I love him. There are no two ways about it. I didn't find out the sex of the system until he arrived. Once I saw him, it was clear to me. Then I got to choose the voice. I need to do a short audio of his voice for you. I chose the British accent. I've never been so excited to drive to Wal-Mart. Yes, I've been there a hundred times, but it seems so much more glamorous when Mr. Belvedere is telling me to turn on "three thouuuusand and nine" that we call "three double O nine."

So, the names I had picked out, there were a few. Archie, Jeeves, Alfred, Godfrey, Jenkins and Winston. But, when he uttered his first words, it was then I knew. All of those names just weren't regal enough. He needed something more. Sir Alfred was too formal and superior. I don't know how it came to me, but Mr. Belvedere just appeared to me. And it stuck.

It's perfect. HE'S perfect. He links up to my cell phone and can make/take calls and text messages. Not only does he get text messages, he READS them to me. This provided JD with a few hours of fun, sending me silly text messages just to hear Mr. B read them to us.

But get this - JD STILLLLLL compared the directions with the atlas. Seriously? This $300 piece of equipment with a two-year extended warranty isn't enough!?

I love him. And JD too.

I think you need to post a picture of you with Mr. B. Mr. B. sounds exciting...love the text message help too. Kind of like having your own butler!

OK, I had no idea they could do all that! The British accent is too much--that would be awesome! Like having your own...who was Batman's assistant?

If I had a GPS I have always said I would make it have a british accent!! hilarious! Andrew's parents have one and it is a she and she is so annoying demanding that I turn when she says. I wouldn't mind turning if some nice accent suggested I turn.

you are totally funny!

We rec'd a gps for christmas/bdays last year from esquire's parents. while it mostly works well...it has also taken us the airplain hangers instead of the airport...that was ANNOYING.

We, however, could not choose his voice and he's just the 'average joe' kind of guy...but more annoying b/c he's always telling us, "turn back"...

His name is Herman.

What is really funny is that we chose ours to have a british accent too, ha! Ours isn't as snazzy as yours and doesn't connect to your cell phone.

I agree, GPS is the only way to drive these days. My parents still do google map directions with their GPS, but Steve and I depend solely on Lola. :) We have faith in her.

I am quite sure my husband would do the same thing.

Have fun with your new toy!

It's his training - you always do a map check. Even if in 20 years Mr. B ends up being correct 100% of the time, always do a map check.

I think his name is perfect. I need to name mine. She's a girl though.

Everything sounds better with a British accent.

I can't blame JD for the check, and I have no military training.

I think thats so cool he reads your texts to you and stuff. We would totally be doing that just to hear him.

Did I already tell you that ours is Sean Connery? I mean he even says, "you have reached your desh.tin.a.shion...shaken, not stirred."
I love Sean.

WOW! That is making my factory GPS in my car look like Pacman compared to Wii! I'm SO impressed! When the hubby and I were searching out that deal for you I had NO idea it was THAT great! lol

What TV show was Mr. Belvedere from? I can picture him in my head, but cannot pull it any further out of my memory!

We have a garmin also. Gil bought it for himself. I mean me for Valentines Day. She was a she till Rich and Jess borrowed her to go to N.C. He changed her to a he because he couldn't take directions from a girl. LOL
Just an FYI though. There was an article in the paper how people were having their garmins stolen while at the mall and the thieves were punching in GO HOME and then robbing their homes while they were still shopping at the mall. Make sure you take it down. They were even breaking in cars that just had the suction cup ring on their windshields.
Love you,
Tina
