Halloween Update (picture heavy)

I am a little late, but Happy Halloween! We took Lorelai out for her first time trick-or-treating. She isn't real sure what to do, but says "tricktreat" and "thank you" then runs as fast as she can to the next house. Now that I'm typing this out, maybe she does know what to do.....

I made her a poodle costume, but then decided to put her in a butterfly costume I had. She kept running around the house saying "fuh fly, fuh fly" and spinning around like a dog chasing its tail trying to see her beautiful wings. We just thought it was too cute, so we let her be a butterfly. It's a 3T and she wore it last year. Yep, she was only 8 months old last Halloween, but she was big. It's nice that she's been the same size for the last year. Most parents can't say that. It's funny, because things still fit, they just fit so differently now. Here are a few pictures...last year and this year.

I love that third picture of Lorelai. She looks like she's going to give somebody a black eye.

We had a good time going to a few houses on our street and then coming back to the house to hand out candy with the Fortenberries. :-)

I have a question for everyone. Is it just me, or does it seem that, for Halloween, many more young girls (say....ten'ish?) are dressing like.....well, hookers? I was amazed at what some of the parents were letting their children wear. And they were walking around with them. It just makes me sad for the little girl. I pray that Lorelai loves herself enough to respect her body and not even desire to dress like this.

Here are some random photos of Thursday and Friday night's festivities. We did the Zoo Boo at the San Antonio Zoo on Thursday night.

Don't be fooled. I was a little worried about what they may be handing out, but the Jim Beam box had king sized Snickers bars stacked ten-high!

She wanted to trick-or-treat at this house all on her own. Little Miss Independent!

This was her very first trick-or-treat house - our neighbors.

Awwww....Kinsey, the little ladybug!

One of Lala's favorite things to do is to say "hi" to the moon.

Family shot from Thursday night.

Very first lollipop. Chocolate dum dum

My beautiful friend, Erin

This is JD's costume. Just kidding. It's the guy in front of us in line at the zoo.
Although, that would have been so funny!!

Fun, fun, fun! Loved all the pictures. I laughed at the guy in from of you at the zoo. Friday at my crossing guard job - one of the dad's I see frequently showed up in a fat suit - well - turned out it wasn't just a fat suit - he was "Joe the plumber" !! So perfect given the upcoming election. The backside of his costume had his 'crack' showing with the name of the company "McCracken Plumbing".

It was awesome. I so wished I hadn't been on-duty so I could have taken a picture of it.

Loved your family picture too! I am going to get a couple of halloween pics up probably tomorrow.

I LOVE the butterfly costume! Care to share where you got it?

I would have laughed {out loud} if that man in yellow was in front of me! Good job getting a photo! ha ha!

I love the comparison of the two years. Adorable costume. I can't believe those cutie pies leave their hats on so well!

Lexie used to LOVE to check out the moon every night. It was part of our bedtime ritual. We would have to go out to find it and then sing Laurie Berkner's "Moon, Moon, Moon"... wow, we must have looked a little odd to the neighbors.

I love her walking by herself with her Elmo basket and with her friend. And, of course, am partial to family pics because we all know how rare it is to get one of those!

Such awesome pictures! The cutest (and confident-so adorable!) butterfly I've seen yet! ;-)
I know what you're talking about with mini hoochie mamas - seriously, what are parents thinking!? Arrr.

Great photos! Smart idea using the same costume twice. Finally a family picture, yay!! I also like the fist picture, so funny.

I was too cheap (and lazy) this year to even buy Christian a costume. We had some friends over, I made pizza and we handed out candy. Nothing too exciting, but I didn't see as many "sexy" costumes as I thought I would on the little girls. That's a bonus.

Lorelai is so cute in her butterfly costume. You can definately see both of you in her in the family picture!

I loved that my eldest could wear clothes forever. She was so tiny for so long she could wear clothes from one winter through the next. It was great. Now the other two grow out of clothes it seems every couple of months. I am buying shes ever other month and pants every month. They are going to break me financially with clothes.

she is an adorable butterfly! my kids were: alex-dipsy the teletubby, haley-pirate, grace-vampiress, josh-some scary skeleton thing, zack-member of the swat team.

it really is sad how some parents allow their children to dress. i wouldn't let my girls even think about dome of those costumes!!

I'm not sure which year was cuter...last or this year with the butterfly. I guess last year she was cute and this year she's pretty as a little lady. We had a blast. Thanks for including us for your Halloween festivities.

My James was a caterpiller, which he has managed to fit into since he was 3 (I bought it large) and now he's 6. My dad keeps asking him when he'll be a butterfly!

The one of Lorelai and her friend walking with their backs to you is So cute. Two little bugs! I laughed out loud and woke up John who was snoozing on the nearby futon at the mere suggestion of JD in that yellow costume.

Hey girl ~ I am right there with ya!! We said the same thing about all the young "tweens" and up aged girls at the mall! My hubby asked if "slut" was in this year! It really was sad!

The little butterfly is too cute!!!!

I totally agree about the inappropriately dressed girls...what are these parents thinking. Plus some pretty young boys in very scary costumes!

Ok, who is wearing x-mas lights and holding Lorelai's hand? Or am I imagining that?

Keppel

BTW...she is a doll!!!

I love the costume. Maci Clare wore it last year. I still have it hanging in her closet because I can't bring myself to get rid of it. Glad you had a great Halloween.

i love that she wore the same costume a WHOLE year later. That just makes me giggle. She is the cutest butterfly I know.

Yes! I too noticed alot of inappropriately clothed young ladies. There was one in particular that I saw and I caught myself staring at her boobs! I thought to myself, "If I am staring at them what must the guys be doing?!?"

I love the picture of your Butterfly and Ladybug from behind.

Could you put her in the poodle costume and post pictures in that one too? I am sure it is adorable!

Had to come by and look at them again because they were SO cute. The one of Kinsey and Lala walking in front of you absolutely melts my heart. Ugh-You need to stop posting such cute pics-it is giving me even worse baby fever =)

Adorable! Loved the comparison.
I have to agree with the little Hoochey-Coochie assessment. The only prob being mine was a Rock Star in thigh high boots and fishnet shirt. She didn't notice her Momma and Daddy giving each other The Nod or The Shake when we had to spend an entire weekend looking for "modest" rocker attire... If she'd been a couple years older, I don't think we would have consented to it at all.
