Thank you for your prayers and thoughts! They worked! Dad went into surgery at 8:15 and was done by 10:15. This surgery normally takes four hours, so we were super-pleased about his timeline. He was off the respirator almost immediately and was in ICU within a few hours. What an over-acheiver! He's tried numerous times to get me to smuggle in coffee, but I'm smarter than he thinks!
He should be off his epidural and have the tube out of his stomach by tomorrow. Then, off to a regular room....getting back on his feet so he's ready to come home.
The surgeon obviously had good sleep, or a great deal of coffee. At any rate, he did a bang-up job and my Dad is better because of it.
Now, for all you Norths reading this, the aneurysm is hereditary. GET IT CHECKED OUT. NOW.
I've been up since 4am and just got home at 8. That's....oh, about a 16-hour day. I think it's time to hit the hay.
One more thing, though. Y'all forgot to pray about the vending machine. Or, wait....maybe I wasn't specific enough. I only hit the vending machine for a Diet Pepsi. It was the eggs, bacon and frappucino for breakfast, the lasagna for lunch and the chicken sandwich and fries for dinner that I should have had you pray off of me! Oh yeah, and don't forget the frozen custard!!! Thanks for praying for the vending machine. Now pray that I will stop eating.
More tomorrow. In the meantime, if you have children (or even if you don't) read this. I might be making my blog private soon. What do you think?
Welcome to our family site!

I'm so glad the surgery went well and everything is okay with your dad! Both he and your family are in all of our prayers!
I read that link you posted (I don't have kids yet) and it was horrible. Last week's Law and Order SVU was about the lovely world of cyber space, and the creapy weirdo's that are in it. I am pretty naive and very trusting, so even as an adult that can be bad. My husband actually said "you know that you shouldn't put your real name, and where you live on your blog, right?" Of course I said yes, but I probably do divulge too much info in my blog, and it's not a private blog. All that being said...I'm one of your SSR's and so I'll be sad if you make your blog private, because I really enjoy reading it, however I totally understand.
Hope your dad's doing well today!

Make it private. I did mine after my cousin did hers (for your same reasoning). I also have my MySpace set to private AND only my friends can view my blogs and photos. Change your password frequently too!
Rachel-So glad that your Dad's surgery went well!!! xoxoxo Jessie
Great news about your dad!!!! Hope he starts to feel better really soon.
As for the blog thing, I guess its something to think about..... there's always something freaky happening to think about!
Thank-you so much for your comment! I decided to make my blog private. Yesterday was the first time I visited your site and I hope you dont mind if I continue to do so. I would love for you to be able to continue viewing my site so if you are interested leave a comment on my blog with your email address or you can email me at melissa_hurlbut@yahoo.com!
Thanks again,
MElissa

Glad to hear that your daddy is good! Please let me know about "l". I hear ya on the privacy settings thing....remember we were just talking about this...
I want to be a reader!!!
I didn't read about this until today so sorry that I didn't comment earlier. I will pray for his speedy recovery. My pop had this done 5 years ago but he was in his 70's and it had almost burst when they got him in. It took him two weeks to get out of ICU (he was in a coma that whole time) and a month in the hospital. His surgeon was fantastic, a life saver!! All the men in my family were told to get checked, some have, some have not. I am very glad that your dad is on a quick road to recovery.
Glad to hear that prayers were answered and your Dad's surgery went well.
I hope you got my e-mail and I'm not considered a 'secret stalker reader' anymore!!! :) :) With that said, I went to the link you posted about all the freaks on the internet and it...well, first, it enraged me and made me want to hurl, but also confirmed a lot of what my gut has been telling me about certain things we post on-line. I don't want to be paranoid but, at the same time, thinking about these things has me questioning why we make our family blog public at all and ultimately, is it worth it?? Thanks for the insightful link and may the Lord guide you in your decision.
In Christ,
Jamie
Glad to hear things are going so well... hope to see you soon!
Best wishes for your dad. Seems like things are going well.
I have felt an added security with my blog being private. I know who is allowed on. Before, my counter was my way to see before where people were from, when they visited, # of visits, etc. If something looked fishy in terms of location, then I could scope it out a little. I still use both. But I do feel a little safer with the private blog. Of course, then I worry if I am letting my guard down and telling too much.
I don't know. You just have to way the pros and cons and decide. Or try to create some alternative.
hey Rachel--I'm so glad to hear your dad is doing well, you North's are amazing!
I'd love to catch up with you while you are in St Louis! I'll shoot you an e-mail Monday.
God bless,
Robin B
I'm not praying for you to stop eating. You SHOULD be eating 6 times a day girlfriend!
