Lorelai likes television. She comes by it honestly, she is her father's child. I try to limit her television time every day, making sure that she gets in plenty of physical activity, quiet time, reading time, coloring time, etc, etc.
When she is watching tv, I ensure that it's something "quality." There's not much quality television out there, but Disney and PBS do it for me. She's allowed to watch shows like Doodlebops and Little Einsteins on Disney and Word World and SuperWhy on PBS. These shows teach her about music, letters, numbers, memorization, sharing, and deductive reasoning. They are all very moral shows, with no commercials to boot.
But, what they aren't is Biblical. She watches Veggie Tales and loves them, but there isn't a television station with good quality cartoons that really bring children in and teach the Bible and why God made the world the way He did.
On top of that, the Disney and PBS shows all have characters you can buy in the store. Lorelai's not to the age where that matters just yet, but I'm sure in a short few months, we'll be the ones in Wal-Mart with a screaming child mad because she can't have the $30 Elmo doll.
With all this in mind, Phil Vischer, the creator of Big Idea Productions (who brought us Veggie Tales) had the very same thought process. This fall, he will be bringing us Jelly Telly.
I'm so excited, I can hardly contain myself. This is a 28 minute video, but worth every second. It is Phil Vischer talking about his creation, how it came to be and even shows a few short clips in preview.
The best part is how much it costs. I tried to put the video here on my page, but it's not working. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. We are totally subscribing as soon as it comes out!

I haven't watched the video, but let me tell you about VeggieTales. Sweetheart LOVED LOVED them when she was little and there are enough products out there to choke a horse so don't think you will get off scott-free there!
But this sounds great. Back when my oldest was little the answer was: VHS. Man I'm old.

I listened to about 90% of the video with Steve. We are both really excited about Jelly Telly. I even emailed Laura Fletcher at Manna to let her know about it so maybe Manna can help get the word out. Great post!! THanks!
