A few months ago I found this tutorial on making bookshelves out of rain gutters. It took me a while to get up the motivation, but I did. The workload was tiny and the result is fantastic! The bookshelves don't take up much room at all and all the books are facing Lorelai, which someone once told me was supposed to keep her more interested in them. We'll see how that works out.

Lorelai loves them. I might even have to throw a few up in Emerson's room!

how awesome! did you have to put any paint on the gutters or just buy them just like that and use them as is? i agree with the idea of her being able to see the books. wonderful for a child's room or a classroom!!!!
